University of Sunderland Creative Writing Students 15th October 2024

Overall session feedback:

A resounding “very helpful, 5 out of 5, informative, interactive and great session”

Creative Writing Course delivered in libraries 15th January 2025

I joined Mirabel’s Writing Group two years ago at Whitburn Library.

From the beginning, Mirabel was very well prepared to welcome our small group, with well sourced materials and an excellent introduction to each session.

She always exhibited a warm and encouraging manner to each member of the group and allowed plenty of time for each of us to contribute our work and be able to discuss it together. She had many ideas to enhance our writing and did so in a kind and thoughtful way. Her feedback was always welcome and carried out positively. She made helpful and incisive notes on any of our work which she took away to read.

She produced a variety of resources to stimulate our efforts, both visual and written, which were most useful. She also used some of her own work to illustrate how a writer creates a worthwhile piece of writing, which I found exciting and stimulating.

As a teacher myself, I really appreciated her approach which was vibrant and created a lively session every time. She engendered an atmosphere in which everyone felt valued for whatever they contributed.

She encouraged us to try to publish our work and provided a lot of information regarding the way to do that, with details of appropriate publishers and agents. She was instrumental in getting one of my poems published through WriteOn! magazine and part of my memoir in a podcast, which was really thrilling for me and much appreciated.

Mirabel is not only an accomplished writer herself, but she is generous in her encouragement of other writers.

Public Speaker, Teacher, Writer

I’m delighted to recommend Mirabel as a passionate educator and writer who powerfully conveys her belief that everyone deserves to have a voice. She demonstrates this through her writing, teaching, and speaking engagements. As a dedicated editorial team member of
literary magazine Mag Write On! and an effective ambassador for us in the North of England, Mirabel has been instrumental in advancing our mission. Her deep conviction that storytelling can serve social justice has helped us forge meaningful partnerships and bring
incredible collaborators on board.

Public Speaker. Self Publishing

Mirabel is the self-published author of Zeb, Jet and the Ice-Cream Calamity and a contributor to Pen to Print magazine. She has spoken at several BIPC self-publishing events, outlining her publishing journey and the personal events that inspired it.

I found Mirabel to have a warm, sympathetic manner which, when allied to her practical presentation skills, gets across her obvious personal knowledge of the subject to an audience. I am very grateful to Mirabel for her contribution to our events and the inspiration and support she has brought to other self-published authors – we have received positive feedback from those who attended our events and at least one has submitted to Pen to Print and will be presenting a workshop as a result. It goes without saying that I would unreservedly recommend Mirabel to anyone looking for a contributor to any event relating to either allergy awareness or self-publishing.

Workshop Facilitator. True advocate for raising allergy awareness

I have had the pleasure of working with Mirabel at PNE with her Marketing for her Write by Mirabel business. She is an excellent writer and as an author of Zeb, Jet, and the Ice-Cream Calamity she has provided her audience with insightful and practical advice. Mirabel is a true advocate for raising allergy awareness. Mirabel is also a great workshop facilitator and she creates a supportive learning environment where participants feel comfortable sharing, experimenting, and growing.
